Open 7 Days a Week

After more than a decade of working different jobs in the restaurant and bar industry, Chanc took the leap and bought the Broadway Station Sports Bar, Grill & Off Sale in Saint Hilaire, Minnesota in July 2021. He was drawn to the sports bar's business because he likes everyday to be different, and enjoys being around people. He stated, “I fell in love with it. I just kind of wanted my own place to do my own thing.”

The Broadway Station Sports Bar, Grill & Off Sale is open seven days a week. They hold events such as Bingo and $2 Fireball Fridays. Chanc likes to keep changing up the menu. He said, “I think outside the box. I follow a lot of good restaurants and small town bars on social media, and get ideas from them. You can take something that you see and put your own little twist to it. Like when we do a Broadway poutine, it’s a regular poutine with the gravy, fries, and cheese curds. I just added meat to it. Everyone likes it, and they're licking the bowls clean. That's what I like to see!”


Great Staff

Chanc credits the success of the Broadway Station Sports Bar, Grill & Off Sale to the staff of 23. “I’ve got an excellent staff,” he said. “I have a lot of seasoned veterans that know what they're doing, and I can throw them in just about any situation. I’ve even pulled a couple out of retirement!” He’s not a micromanager, and wants to hear menu ideas from his cooks, asking when it’s time to put in a food order, “Hey, what do you want to do this weekend? If you can think of something, let's give it a whirl.”

Broadway Station Sports Bar, Grill & Off Sale can seat about 150 to 175 people pretty comfortably. They have a separate back room that can seat up to 45 people for events, such as birthday parties or meetings. In addition, they do catering, and can easily handle a 400 person wedding.

Robin Hood Business Services was already the provider of the till and credit card processing when Chanc purchased Broadway Station Sports Bar, Grill & Off Sale. However, Chanc has known Scott for many years. They were both members at the same gym, and pushed each other through grueling workouts.


Excellent Customer Service

Chanc highlighted the excellent customer service he has received from Robin Hood Business Services. He was one of the first to try out a new POS system about a year ago, and they found a lot of previously unknown bugs. He explained, “We worked through it to figure it out. For a while, every week they were just asking me how it’s going, and what else we needed it to do.” Chanc also shared how Derek came to his business and sat with him for two hours, going through different settings and features, showing them to Chanc and asking, “How about this?” Chanc admitted that he’s not a tech savvy guy, so seeing the capabilities of the system he remarked, “This is awesome!” Overall, Chanc believes that it’s tough to beat a local provider. Other POS providers have tried contacting him, but he says, “Well what happens when your stuff goes down? How long will it take for them to get onsite to do a total reset?”

Robin Hood Business Services doesn’t just get you set up and then forget about you. Recently, Derek told him about a new POS system that incorporates features his current POS doesn’t have. This new POS could also save him $100 a month. Chanc knows that changing to a new system would mean having to retrain his 20+ staff, but he also said, “Ben and Derek have been good at handling all my issues. If I couldn’t get either of those two, Scott helps me out quickly. I know if I have an issue, it gets taken care of.”
